Just released by Fantagraphics, this is one the best books yet done on Golden Age Comics! Sadowski is by far my favorite editor of compilations/retrospectives on comic book art! This book reproduces 176 incredible covers, full page and in color on coated stock with outstanding reproduction! The artists represented are a virtual who’s who of the finest artists to ever work in the comics…Lou Fine, Alex Schomburg, Basil Wolverton, Jack Cole, Will Eisner, Simon & Kirby, Mac Raboy, Walt Kelly, L. B. Cole, Bill Everett, Reed Crandall, Charles Biro and on and on! To add to it there are twenty two pages of notes by Greg loaded with the history behind these covers! A fascinating and important look at an exceptional period of American art! My highest recommendation to anyone interested in 20th Century illustration and of course the comics!
